December 16, 2011 - Chelan Local Bazaar

A packed crowd of holiday shoppers jammed into the Senior Center last Saturday and purchased bags of handmade soaps, candles, pen and pencil sets, place mats, jewelry and greeting cards to name a few. When the vast crowd was not shopping they were consuming fresh baked goods and enjoying homemade chili, turkey soup and fresh sandwiches from a group of volunteers in the kitchen. The local organization Get Naked started by 6 friends, has grown into it's own non-profit taking micro donations from many generous donaters and supplying funds for heating bills, clothing and shelter for those around the area that cannot afford it this time of year. December 21, 2010 - Ice Sculptors Return to Winterfest

The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce is prepping for it's annual Winterfest and the Historic Downtown Chelan Association is sponsoring it. With over 12 sculpters from Washington and Canada the amount of ice sculpting talent will be overwhelming. The festivities will also includ sleigh rides, fireworks, parades and a bonfire on the beach to music and wine tastings.

October 22, 2010 - Stehekin Fall Festivals kick off with Beautiful Autumn Colors

At the Golden West Lodge, the Orchard CEntennial kick off was an overwhelming success. Almost 100  attendees were provided with entertainment and education about the people and the life of the Orchard for over  100 years.  The Harvest fest was greeted with apple picking, cider making and a community potluck while enjoying the music of Stehekin's own band, "End of the Road".

October 5, 2010 - Field of Dreams Construction Begins

The Chelan School District recently started construction of over 12 acres of athletic fields on the former Naumus apple orchard west of Wal-Mart. The school district will build soccer fields on the site and this means that our community will now be able to accommodate soccer tournaments as well.

September 24, 2010 - Chelan River Gorge Ranch 1 Trail expands for more Water Access

The new Chelan River Gorge Reach 1 Trail is a 4.5-mile route for walkers who start on the Riverwalk Trail in downtown Chelan. Tourists and townies can access more of the Chelan River, thanks to the recently completed trail. The design grew out of the community's desire to be able to reach the upper section of the Chelan River safely. The district opened 14 parks along the Chelan and Columbia River prior this expansion.

September 15, 2010 - Chelan Citizens Help Plan for the Future

The Chelan Planning committee is taking on the advice of it's locals for the future of Chelan. Over 150 online responses were noted and polls were sent out in water bills. Although the overall response is small, it's still important. Valley residents brainstormed everything from the strengths and weaknesses of Chelan to how they want to strengthen the economy, and all within the framework of eight issues important to Chelan Valley: Economy, parks and recreation, well-planned community, housing, protecting Lake Chelan and the valley, health and safety, arts and culture and transportation. Coming up on September 10th is the local annual Lake Chelan Car Show and Cruise. This event is designed to bring a car lover to the Valley for entertainment at Mill Bay Casino, Downtown Show & Shine, Downtown Walkabout, Hot Rod BBQ, Bridge Dance, and general cruising the highway & byways. August 16, 2010 - Home Tour and Art Sale Marks 9th Anniversary

Five Lake Chelan area homeowners will open their homes for visitors adn guests during this amazing adventure. Each home is unique and rich with ideas for interior design, architecture and landscaping. More information and pictures of each home will appear in the Lake Chelan Mirror in the weeks leading up to the Sept. 18 event. Also, the Tsillan Cellars once again is donating their grounds Home Tour day for the Art Sale. Artists from around the Northwest will donate 25 percent of their sales from the day. July 16, 2010 - Chelan bands together to give and sweat for a cause

About 200 runners and over 550 bicyclists participated in an event honoring the memory of Chelan Sheriff's Office Deputy Saul Gallegos, who was killed in the line of duty June 26, 2003. The even began at Singleton Park in Manson and running participants ran a 5k or 10k or walked a 3k or 5k.  The money raised from this cause goes to the Deputy Saul Gallegos Memorial Trust to help fund his four sons' education. The even raised enough money to purchase two $1,000 CDs for his boys.  The bicyclist participated in the Chelan Rotary's Century Challenge and Cycle de Vine. The Chelan Rotary Community Foundation uses funds from the event to "benefit the youth, seniors and disadvantage of the Chelan Valley," according to the event website at www.centuryride.com.

June 29, 2010 - Chelan's Baseball Season Wraps Up

After a fun season of baseball and t-ball, the Chelan area wraps up it's 2010 season. With teams from Manson and Waterville and those in 10 and unders and 12 and under they were coached by locals and the city of Chelan thanks all its coaches for the time and efforts in helping the youth of Chelan Washington.

June 25, 2010 - Chelan Street Fair - Located in Riverwalk Park in Chelan

Just a 1/2 block from downtown on Woodin Ave and a few miles from Beebe Ranch lots on the Columbia river is the Lake Chelan Street Fair. This is the kick-off to the Chelan Summer of fun! Hundreds of vendors and thousands of patrons stroll the streets for various crafts, games, food and arts. Habitat for Humanity volunteers gear up for semi-annual yard sale 
 
The Habitat for Humanity yard sale was located at the Manson United Methodist Church Friday to Sunday, June 11-13. Shoppers found amazing deals and all proceeds went to a good cause. Items such as Bathing suits, backpacks, purses, pants, shirts, blouses, jackets, bar stools, luggage, lamps, tools, lawn chairs, books - lot of books, DVDs, eight-tracks, LPs, cassettes, cups, vases, casseroles, plates, plastic containers, shoes, jewelry, toys and a room full of nonspecific, one-of-a kind knickknacks were all wisked away by eager treasure hunters.

Wally Peterson Memorial Fly-In Show.

On June 5th it was the annual 5th Annual Wally Peterson Memorial Fly-In Show. In addition to the Pancake Breakfast and lunch during the event at the Chelan Municipal Airport there were classics & antique aircrafts, war birds, Miss Veedol and a variety of private planes on display. Another perfect outing for both locals and visitors alike.

Lake Chelan honors fallen soldiers
 
Veterans of Foreign Wars place remembrance at the marker honoring fallen soldiers in Chelan's Riverwalk Park with fellow flag bearers. The VFW and American Legion joined in flag ceremonies Monday morning in Chelan and Manson. Come join us Memorial Day for these time honored traditions.
